Nintendo's playing cards segment sales FY 2016-2022
In fiscal year 2022, Nintendo generated around 5.7 billion Japanese yen in net sales through its playing cards segment. While the multinational consumer electronics company is best known for its entertainment segment based on video games, it started its business as a manufacturer of hanafuda, a type of Japanese playing cards. Trading card games based on the company's intellectual properties are mainly distributed through licensing agreements or by wholly-owned subsidiaries like in the case of the Pokémon franchise.
